Day 33 Traveling from St Izaire to Domme in Dodogne France.

Day 33 Traveling from St Izaire to Domme in the Dordogne region.

Today we went from Le Grande Combe just outside St Izaire to the walled city of Domme in Dordogne.

Unfortunately the weather in the morning was pretty terrible as the slight drizzling rain turned to heavy showers and the boys were quite determined not to stop and put the hoods up.  It was wet weather clothing all round.  Fortunately the weather eased up in the afternoon as we approached Domme.

We travelled via Requista, Rodez, Decavzeville, Figeac, Gourdon and Sarlat, arriving at Domme at about 3pm.  The changes in vegetation are quite distinct.  From hilly farming country to a more temperate wine area.  Every where is very green - a very pretty lush green.  The temperatures over the last 3 - 4 days has been in the low to mid 30's with humidity also quite high however today temperatures are down and the traveling temperature is quite cold.

Finding a lunch stop proved difficult.  Initially we stopped at a supermarket chain hoping for a cafe and loo however they only had a loo and did take exception when they realised we weren't buying anything and using their loo.  We finally found a "truck stop" restaurant however the waitress did not speak English in any form and did not really try to communicate with us.  In the end we managed to get 2 teas and 4 coffees and 4 paellas with Dale declining a meal and Ruth missing out when she upset the waitress by trying to order a pizza which was only part of the daily 3 course meal.  Ruth was quite put out and the waitress seemed to sternly ignore her for the rest of our stay.  It was all a bit of a laugh and we all survived the experience.

The road into Domme became a sudden steep climb through narrow streets.  The town is a tourist destination and we very quickly drew a crowd once at the top of the hill on which the city sits which made maneuvering quite difficult.
