Day 17: Portsmouth to
Bilbao.
The night before:
We drove from Andover to Portsmouth last night to board the Brittany's ferry (Par Finnese) which sailed from 10.30 pm. This crossing is a two night and one day journey. Loading the cars was interesting - much like the tassie experience the wait in queues and the MG was sent off in a different lane to the Alvis's. We meet up with John and Alison who had worked up to the last minute to get his car on the road for this trip. This is the first time the 12/50 ducks back had been off the road since the 1950's and was first fired up yesterday. Fingers crossed.
This morning:
We woke to find the sun streaming into the cabin and the ship moored in
Roscoff to disembark passengers and for a crew change. The ferry operates on "British time" which added a bit
of confusion at breakfast as the agreed meeting time of 9 am. Mike, Ruth, Noeline, Alan and us managed to catch up and we later found out that Peter and Janet had "booked" for 10 and we did not turn up as expected. The busy restaurant - Peter was not popular with the staff. he kept a low profile from then on.

We had a really stress free relaxing day today on the Ferry. This let us catch up
on the blog but as WIFI was a bitflaky we couldn’t put it all on line.
After a leisurely breakfast we roamed around the ship to familiarise our self with what was on offer. There was a mixture of puzzles, tea drinking and Noeline going to have her nails done at 2.45pm and Maritta a massage and facial at 3.30 pm. Dale is a little bit
worried Maritta might get used to this pampering.
Tomorrow the real adventure starts when we reach Spain.
