Day 32 Touring around St Izaire (Day 2)
This morning the wind has finally died back and the weather is mild with a very slight chill.
Maritta was up early catching up on the blog being ably helped by Muesli one of 4 resident cats. |
Today we decided to head in the opposite direction and took a short trip to Albi along some roads we hadn’t as yet
used or if we had, in the opposite direction.
Through roads in some of the villages are confusing which caused a few
detours but eventually we found our way and found somewhere to park in the
middle of this quite large city.
Some discussions/consultations on the route to Albi. |
We had a cup of tea and the girls decided to do
some shopping whilst the guys went to explore the 14th century
cathedral. The cathedral is about 120metres long and 100 metres high. Due to a
lack of stone in the neighbourhood it was built with bricks using clay from the
nearby river banks. The painting, sculptures and artifacts displayed in the Cathedral are
quite spectacular.

After this we had a leisurely trip back to the Chateau with just a few minor wrong turns and
gave the cars a wash.
Cars being cleaned and prepared for trip tomorrow. |
