Day 15: Great Longstone to
Andover.
Just like yesterday the weather is absolutely beautiful with brilliant sunshine although the wind was just a little chilly. Our driving tour today starts with a drive to the south
of England and overnight with Mike and Ruth’s daughter Sue and son in law
Richard in Andover.
Packing up the MG and Alvis for tour. |
The drive took us through picture postcard little villages and pretty
countryside for most of the morning and some Motorway travel in the afternoon. The sky was clear with just the cris-crossing of jet stream visible.
We stopped for lunch at the Tipperary Hotel – Maritta asked for a lemon
lime and bitters, Dale for a lemon squash and we ended up with a lime cordial
(still water) and a pint of beer!! Must
have been the accent!
Had an amusing moment late morning when we had a quick loo stop in late
morning and spent 10 or so minutes trying to find Mike around the quite small
shopping mall – walking in circles. He wasn’t overly amused!
Fritz catching some "rays" in Andover |
A few directional signs where missing around Andover so it took us a
few try’s to find Sue’s house but as this involved some more pretty little
villages it wasn’t a hardship at all.

Arrived at Sue’s house in time for pre dinner drinks and a magnificent
spread of food – a very tasty chicken, aubergine and leek casserole.
The rest of our travelling companions will be joining us tomorrow.
