Day 6 3rd day in Berlin

Although this our third day exploring Berlin, we haven't even scratched the surface, there are so many interesting places to visit.

First we took Felix to visit the water clock at the Europa centre. The clock fills up glass balls over a 12 hour period and then empties at 1pm and 1am.

This also gave Maritta and Noeline an opportunity to visit some more shops.

After the shops we explored some more of the public transport system and found our way to the Technology Museum. This is housed in a mixture of new and old buildings, the old ones being part of the original Railway workshops with a huge turntable for the 1435mm gauge trains that are housed there. Berlin has a very long history with rail and the engine shed houses both full size rolling stock from the late 1800's to the current day together with a huge collection of models in a variety of sizes.

The Museum also has a huge collection of still and film cameras, ships, planes and the various machinery that goes with them. A collection of jewelry making equipment was being used to show how the is process is carried out.

We are getting used to the food which is quite different.  Breakfast tends to be cheese and cold meats rather than jam and toast.  No cereal but lots of fresh fruit.  Lunches are buns or rolls with different style fillings and dinner tends to be more traditional foods such as wurst (sausages), sauerkraut or wiener schnitzel.  We are keen to find at least some fish and chips.....still looking.   Doing lots of walking.  This is a very fit city with a lot of people using bike to commute and lots of stairs.
